Fractals in Nature (in the wild)

alt text
This Romano cauliflower is a perfect example of fractals in nature.
A fractal is a geometrical shape that self repeats over and over again and is an exact replica. The first ever fractal was discovered in 1918 by a man called Felix Hausdorff but fractals weren’t named so yet. It wasn’t until 1980 when “The Mandelbrot Set”was drawn by a French American mathematician called Benoit Mandelbrot. Fractals aquired their name from the Latin “fractus” which means “broken”from Mandelbrot. People realised that you could see fractals in real life and this type of cauliflower showed this.
