A picture taken from the top of the Forth Rail bridge showing some of the 6.5 million rivets used to join it. However the focus of the image is the triangle structures used to hold the bridge together. It is said triangles are the strongest shape as each corner distributes the force down the other two lengths. The forth bridge held a record for the longest cantilever bridge before being beaten by a bridge in Canada. The bridge wouldn’t work without the distribution of forces in the triangle structure.
