I feel that this photo completes the pattern as it follows with the theme of the historical progression of time measurement. The first reference to the use of candle clocks was in china as early as 520 AD. Hourglass timers came years after and were first seen in the 8th century, but it was only until the 14th century that they were used commonly. Although this antique clock does not represent the most modern advances in time measurement, I chose to photograph it because the intricacy of the clockwork mechanism fascinates me, and I love the use of Roman numerals on the clock's face.
