In the lead up to Maths Week 2021 one of the S4 Maths groups set me (their Social Subjects teacher) , a challenge to learn to solve a 2x2 cube then give a demo. For 2 weeks, I have been spending a lot of time at home learning the steps. I watched a How To… solve 2x2 video clip on YouTube, I learned what L, F, R', … etc. means and then learned the algorithms, using a sheet with the instructions to help me. I can now solve it from memory. My next challenge is to learn to solve a 3x3 cube. It is good to take on challenges, I like the ones set by our Maths department. I am already working on my pi recital to beat my own PB in the March 22 contest.
Q: What challenge are you working towards? Whatever it is, my tip is to put lots of effort in to reach your target, seek support when needed, but have fun too!
