This is my brother playing Minecraft. During lockdown, when we couldn't go out to play with our friends we played together online. Minecraft is not just one of our favourite games, it is the best-selling video game of all time. It's a sandbox game meaning it goes on forever. The only limit is your imagination. You can play alone or with friends. We often build together. We've made theme parks, castles, entirely cities. You can download pre-built maps like Hogwarts or Atlantis. Minecraft is made entirely of 3D blocks built from code. You can travel into different biomes and try different challenges. There is a lot of maths in Minecraft - adding, subtracting, dividing, geometric shapes, areas, perimeters, and volumes. Telling the time is important in Minecraft — night-time can be dangerous on survival mode. You need to be able to read co-ordinate to find the ores you need to survive at different depths. You can trade ores. You need to understand weights and measures and relative value. Gold is the most expensive ore. You use ores to craft items. Crafting is basically just like algebra. Minecraft is a fun way to learn about maths, science, and engineering. There is now a Minecraft Education Edition that is used in schools.
