Most of my garden is taken up by grass. Next to grass is a raised vegetable bed. The vegetable bed has a perimeter of 795cm and an area of 3.79 meters squared. The grassy area has a perimeter of 3890cm and an area of 70.6 meters squared. This means that the grassy area of the garden has 4 times the perimeter of the vegetable bed, and 18 times the area. I was intrigued by the drastic difference between the area correlation and the perimeter correlation, so I tried out other scenarios, and found out that area and perimeter almost never multiply at the same rate from object to object.
I also worked out that if I was to move the raised vegetable bed onto the grass, then it would take up about 5.4% of the grassy area.
