Maps we take for granted have more within them the you may first think. The fact you may only need four colours to shade any given 2D map- a fact that stumped mathematicians till the 20th century. All maps we view (excluding globes) are slightly different to the real world, as we cannot ever completely project 3D to 2D - something must be warped. This has changed our view of the world, exaggerating the north and south; really showing the ‘why of shapes’ and maths inside the humble cartographer’s scroll.
