Special Spirals (the 'why' of shapes)

I found a spiral in the playground. It is a 2D shape that looks like a winding line going around and around. If you draw a spiral flat on paper, it stays all in one plane. But if you put that spiral on a 3D shape, like a sphere, it becomes something called a loxodrome! A loxodrome wraps around the sphere in a special way, crossing all the lines of latitude and longitude. It’s like taking a winding path on a globe. I think it is clever how a simple spiral can turn into something so complex!
