Near my house they are chopping down trees for timber. Chopping down trees actually contributes a lot to climate change because if the wood is burned then the trapped CO2 is released into the atmosphere, causing global warming; 4 billion tonnes a year of CO2 is released through deforestation. Unfortunately, planting new trees will take too long to make up for the humongous amount of damage caused by chopping them down. Maths is used to work out the amounts of CO2 being released by trees and the impact of chopping them down, and it helps us make good decisions to save the planet.
