Light's Patterns (In the Home)

I see maths in this photo as this lamp in my house is curved and made from pliable wood. It has been made to cross over and create a rhombus pattern that allows the light to pass through. Looking at the pattern straight on, you can see that the gaps are all the same shape and size, however, because of the curvature of the lamp's surface, they appear distorted. If you look closely at the photo you will recognise kites and parallelograms. Another interesting feature of this photo is the pattern that the light projects onto the wall behind, it is much more subtle than the clear and sharp pattern of the lamp, but when you focus on it, a slight pattern can be seen.
