I mostly did cake maths in lockdown. There is a lot of weighing and measuring in making cakes. Then there is time and temperature. The most important bit of cakes maths is cutting the cake. This is very tricky because there are 5 people in my family and it is hard to cut a cake into equal fifths. It is easier to cut a cake into quarters or sixths or eighths. Quarters isn't enough for everyone and my mum says its too much cake for us. Sixth leaves 1 slice left and there is a fight. If we cut the cake into eighths we each get one eighth and then because there are 3 slices left mum lets us have seconds. It means we get 2 one eighth slices. That's actually a quarter but don't tell my mum.
