Car or Ferry? (in motion)

We live on the Island of Islay in Scotland and have to take a plane or ferry to travel to the mainland. We wanted to know if a bridge was built joining us to the mainland would it be quicker to drive or take the ferry.
First we calculated the distance between Port Askaig and Kennecraig using an online map, it is 30 miles between the two ports. If we drove a car at 60 miles per hour it would take us 30 minutes to reach our destination. The Ferry takes 2 hours and 30 minutes, so we would save 2 hours per trip if we could drive!
