My photo shows a pompom and a feather falling down. The pompom is falling faster than the feather. Maths can tell me how fast each object falls and how much faster the pompom falls. The pompom is faster than the feather because the feather has lots of fluffy, sticky out bits on which the air gets trapped (so more air resistance) and the pompom is round and compact (less air resistance). Maths can also help me see which shapes fall faster in air.
