All three photos are taken with forced perspective, which uses angles and distance to make it appear like objects are close together, altering our perception of size and distance. The optical illusion takes advantage of our field of vision, which makes closer objects appear bigger.

In the first photo, the photographer has used distance to make two similarly sized cows appear very different in size, and angle to make the further away cow appear as if it is sitting on top of the near cow. In the second photo, the smaller object โ€” a boot, has been placed closer to the camera to make it appear bigger. The person has been positioned further away to reduce their size, and angles used to make it seem like they are standing in the boot.

My photo was taken by standing on a slight hill and using the distance between me and the horse to help. It is all about taking the picture from the right angle and making it look like you are stroking one of the world’s tallest horses! By adjusting the distance between me and the horse, I have adjusted the angular size of both of us, making it look like we are a comparable size. Using angles to hide the ground between us, it gives the optical illusion that I am petting a 30m horse.
