If I know how far my dog travelled and how long it took him, how do I know how fast he was going?

Firstly, I measured how long the lawn was. I did this by walking toe-to-heel along the length of grass to work out the distance. I took 74.5 steps.
Then I measured the length of my shoe in centimetres and got 27.5cm.

Next, I calculated the distance by multiplying 74.5 by 27.5cm which came to 2,048.75cm.

Oscar, my dachshund, took 20 seconds on the skateboard (I was pushing him) from one end to the other, so I had to figure out how fast he was going. I know that to work out speed you have to do the equation distance divided by time.

The distance is 20.4875m (2,048.75cm) and the time is 20 seconds, so 20.4875 divided by 20 is equal to 1.024375 which rounds to 1.024 metres per second. To get it in metres per hour I multiplied the answer by 60 twice which got me 3,686.4. Dividing by 1,000 to get 3.6864 and rounding to 3.69 gave me the result in kilometres per hour. So, the speed Oscar was travelling at was 3.69km per hour.
