Motorsport events often use radio communication in order to safely run the event. Radio communication functions through sending radio waves from a transmitter on one end to a receiver on the others. The electromagnetic waves, often sine waves, are produced by a vibrating electric current in an antenna, which are spread out, then received by another antenna. Sine waves of different frequencies can be used to communicate across different channels.
