How much hay should you feed a horse? Horses should consume 20f their body weight per day according to their workload and condition. 700f the 2hould consist of forage like grass and hay. So if your horse weighs 500kg they need around 10 kg of food per day. This can be managed by weighing hay and calculating the intake of how much a horse is eating to manage their diet and to stop conditions like obesity and laminitis occurring.
