Strong Bridge (the why of shapes)

My math inside photo is a small bridge going to a pontoon. The reason why there are triangles on the bridge is because if it was rectangles or any other shape the bridge would collapse because that the rectangles and circles would not be strong enough eventually leading to the bridge collapsing. Triangles are good because they evenly distributes weight on the bridges so that they do not collapse into the water.
