We collect bricks. Interesting bricks. There are lots if you take the time to look. Most, we’ve found by the river Kelvin when we are walking our dog. It started when we found a brick that had the same name as my school during lockdown. Can you spot it? This photo is of some of my favourite bricks that we’ve collected. They have different names. Sometimes the company that made them. Sometimes the places they were made. They have different designs on the face. Some are very old and have been in the river for a long time and have been damaged. Bricks are almost always cuboids or rectangular prisms with different faces. That shape is easy to make and transport, strong and stable. These bricks fit together well without big gaps to make a strong stable wall. I found a special brick that is a different shape. Can you spot it? It is called a cownose brick. It is used to make the top of a wall look nice. Can you see what happens when you use a cownose brick in the middle of a wall?
