My brother’s friend found a four-leaf clover. I thought they were a myth. Now I’m looking for one too, but I haven’t found one yet. I’ve done some research. I learned that the number of leaves on a clover is decided by genetics. The genes that make four leaf clovers are recessive. Four-leaf clovers are less common that three-leaf clovers. Three-leaf clovers have dominant genes. I learned that 1 in every 10,000 clovers has four leaves. I wanted to know what area I’d need to search to find a four-leaf clover. I measured a square of grass that was 10cm x 10cm. I counted 50 clovers. I think that there would be 100 times as many clovers in 1m2 so 5,000 clovers. An area twice as big, 1m x 2m would have 10,000 clovers. I searched an area 1m x 2m but didn’t find a four-leaf clover. Did I get the math right? Or am I just unlucky?
